Burly Rear Shock Lowering Kit For Harley Touring 2002-2008

Tail Drop: Burly Rear Shock Lowering Kit for Harley Touring (2002–2008)

The Burly Rear Shock Lowering Kit is a component designed to lower the rear ride height of Harley-Davidson Twin Cam Touring models (FLH/FLT) manufactured from 2002 through 2008.

This kit is an extremely popular and budget-friendly method of achieving a custom, lowered stance and improving ground reach while retaining the factory shock absorbers.
🔑 Key Features and Lowering Mechanism

Manufacturer Part # (Black): B28-42007

Drop Amount: This specific Burly kit is designed to lower the rear ride height by approximately 1 inch (1.00″).

Mechanism (Lowering Blocks): The kit utilizes a pair of high-strength, powder-coated steel lowering blocks/brackets. These blocks are installed on the lower shock mount, changing the geometry to lower the bike’s resting height.

Cost-Effective: It is an inexpensive alternative to purchasing shorter, low-profile replacement shocks.

Compatibility: Designed for use with OEM and most aftermarket stock-length shocks.

Fitment and Exclusions (2002–2008 Touring)

The kit fits most standard-height Harley Touring models (FLH/FLT) in the 2002-2008 range, including:

Road King (FLHR)

Electra Glide Classic/Standard/Ultra (FLHTC/I, FLHT/I, FLHTCU/I)

Road Glide (FLTR/I)

Important Exclusions:

Factory-Lowered Models: Does NOT fit models that came lowered from the factory, such as the Street Glide (FLHX) or certain Road King Classic Injected (FLHRCI) models.

Shorty Shocks: Crucially, it is NOT to be used in conjunction with “shorty” or “low-profile” shocks due to the extreme risk of severe clearance issues and bottoming out.

Installation and Warnings

Installation: This is a simple bolt-on installation of the brackets/blocks to the lower shock mounts.

Ground Clearance: A 1-inch drop reduces your lean angle. You must check:

Tire-to-fender clearance.

Fender-to-belt clearance.

Frame-to-exhaust clearance.

Saddlebags: The altered shock angle may require spacing out the saddlebags slightly to prevent rubbing and damage.

Jiffy Stand: Check the motorcycle’s parking lean angle after installation. A new or modified shorter kickstand may be required for stability.

The Burly Rear Shock Lowering Kit is a straightforward and economical way to achieve a lowered look on your 2002–2008 Harley Touring bike.
