Maximum Surface Area for High-Torque Builds

The secret to the Scorpion’s success is its massive increase in friction surface area. By utilizing a high-capacity stack of Carbon Fiber friction plates and tempered steel drive plates, this kit provides a holding capacity that far exceeds the stock configuration. This ensures that every bit of torque is transferred to the rear wheel without the “slipping” or “glazing” often experienced during hard acceleration or heavy touring.

Tuneable Coil-Spring Pressure Plate

Unlike the stock diaphragm spring, which offers no adjustment, the Scorpion uses six heavy-duty coil springs. Barnett includes three different sets of color-coded springs with each kit, allowing you to customize your lever pull:

• Light Springs: Perfect for a “soft” lever feel in daily traffic while still outperforming stock.
• Medium Springs: The ideal balance for Stage II or Stage III performance engines.
• Heavy Springs: Maximum pressure for high-horsepower drag racing or heavy-duty sidecar/towing applications.

Precision Billet Aluminum Construction

Each Scorpion pressure plate is CNC-machined from 6061-T6 billet aluminum. This provides a much more stable and “true” surface than the factory cast-iron parts, which can warp under high heat. The result is a clutch that disengages cleanly, making it significantly easier to find neutral at a stop and providing a crisp, predictable feel through every gear change.

Fitment and Compatibility (1990–1997)

This kit is a direct “bolt-in” replacement for the internal clutch components of the following 5-speed Evolution models:

• Softail: 1990–1997 (Heritage, Fat Boy, Custom, Springer).
• Dyna: 1991–1997 (Sturgis, Super Glide, Wide Glide, Low Rider).
• Touring: 1990–1997 (Electra Glide, Road King, Tour Glide).
• Note: Designed for use in the stock clutch shell. Can be used in “wet” (oil bath) or “dry” (belt drive) environments.
