Standard vs. Extra Plate Design

Depending on your performance needs, Barnett offers two distinct kit styles for the early V-Rod:

• Standard Kit (303-30-10015): A direct OEM replacement consisting of 9 friction plates, 8 tempered steel plates, and 5 heavy-duty springs. Perfect for stock to mildly tuned engines.
• Extra Plate Kit (304-30-10015): The enthusiast’s choice. By using thinner, high-strength plates, Barnett fits 10 frictions and 9 steels into the same space. This provides an 11% increase in surface area, allowing for massive power holding without requiring an excessively stiff clutch lever.

High-Performance Friction Materials

Barnett kits are available in two advanced compounds to suit your riding style:

• Kevlar (Aramid) Fiber: Known for extreme durability and a smooth, linear engagement. It is highly resistant to heat and “glazing,” making it ideal for daily commuting and long-distance touring.
• Carbon Fiber: Designed for high-heat, high-stress environments. Carbon fiber provides a more aggressive “bite” and is the preferred choice for drag racing or high-horsepower builds where maximum grip is the priority.

Heavy-Duty Springs and Steel Plates

Every kit comes with a set of five heavy-duty coil springs that are shot-peened and heat-treated for maximum fatigue resistance. These springs provide the necessary pressure to keep the plates locked together under load. The included drive plates are made from tempered steel and undergo a vibratory deburring process to ensure they are perfectly flat, preventing the “clutch drag” and neutral-finding issues common with warped plates.

Fitment and Compatibility

This kit is a vehicle-specific fit for 1130cc and 1250cc V-Rods from 2002 to 2007, including:

• VRSCA / VRSCB: Original V-Rod models (2002–2006).
