As certified safety equipment specialists, we emphasize that the effectiveness of the Tech-Air 5 depends on a proper fit. Pro Tip: To ensure the system can deploy correctly, you must have approximately 4cm (1.6 inches) of additional space around the circumference of your chest in your outermost jacket. If your jacket is too tight, the airbag cannot expand to its full volume, which can lead to discomfort or reduced protection. Charging Note: The vest features a micro-USB port; we recommend charging it fully before any multi-day tour. The LED display on the front of the vest clearly shows the system’s status (Armed, Charging, or Fault). Service Requirement: After a deployment, the vest must be sent to an authorized Alpinestars service center for a canister replacement and a full bladder inspection. It is also recommended to have the system serviced every two years to ensure the sensors and AI remain in peak operating condition.

Designed to deliver an “invisible under the jacket feel,” the Tech-Air 5 Plasma Airbag System offers unrestricted movement and maximum breathability in addition to advanced protection. The system charges via USB-C and has a battery life good for up to 30 hours of riding time on a single charge. An integrated LED display conveniently shows the system status, riding mode and battery level directly on the garment. The Tech-Air 5 Plasma features Bluetooth connectivity to pair with the Tech-Air App. The app uses your  phone to display the system’s operational status, battery status and provides a detailed analysis of your ride with MyRide. Over-the-air software updates are also handled through the app.
