Shinko 011 Verge: The Pinnacle of Sport-Touring Radial Performance

The Shinko 011 Verge represents the high-tech edge of the Shinko lineup. While many cruiser tires are built with traditional bias-ply methods, the Verge is a **state-of-the-art radial** designed to bridge the gap between track-day performance and cross-country durability. It is specifically engineered for heavy, high-horsepower motorcycles like the Harley-Davidson V-Rod, Yamaha FJR, and Suzuki Hayabusa, as well as performance-tuned Dyna and Softail builds. If your riding style involves high-speed interstate travel followed by aggressive mountain twisties, the Verge 011 is built to handle the heat and the lean.

Zero Degree JLSB Technology

The secret to the 011 Verge’s incredible stability is its Jointless Steel Belted (JLSB) technology. By using a continuous steel belt wrapped at zero degrees to the direction of travel, Shinko has eliminated the “growth” that occurs in tires at high speeds due to centrifugal force. This results in a tire that stays cooler, maintains a consistent footprint, and provides a much smoother ride on the highway. This rigid structure allows for a more flexible sidewall, which translates to a “planted” feel in corners and significantly improved shock absorption over road imperfections compared to stiff bias-ply tires.

Expert Performance Advice: The Radial Advantage

Switching from a traditional cruiser tire to a radial like the 011 Verge is a massive handling upgrade. Pro Tip: Because radials run cooler and have more flexible sidewalls, they provide a much higher level of “feedback” through the chassis. You will feel exactly what the road is doing, which is essential for safe high-speed riding. Pressure Management: To maximize the mileage potential of the Verge, you must be diligent with PSI. For heavy performance cruisers, we recommend 36 PSI front and 42 PSI rear. Running these tires too soft will cause the steel belt to flex excessively, leading to irregular wear patterns. Fitment Note: The 011 Verge is an excellent choice for riders looking for a “wide tire” look without the sluggish handling of a flat-profile cruiser tire.

Why It’s the Smart Choice for Performance Riders

The Shinko 011 Verge is proof that you don’t have to spend a fortune to get world-class radial technology. It offers a level of sophistication usually reserved for tires costing twice as much. It provides a quiet, stable, and confidence-inspiring ride that allows you to push your bike to its limits safely. For the rider who demands a tire that can keep up with a high-output engine and premium suspension, the 011 Verge is a proven performance leader that continues to dominate the sport-touring market.

Always verify that your motorcycle’s rims are designed for radial tires. While most modern performance bikes are compatible, older models with narrow rims may require a bias-ply alternative like the Shinko 230.

Shinko 712: The Proven Value Leader for Cruisers and Classic Bikes

The Shinko 712 is built for the rider who needs a dependable, high-quality tire without the “boutique” price tag. While many budget tires are limited by low speed ratings and stiff rubber compounds, the 712 is H-rated (130 mph), making it more than capable of handling modern interstate speeds. It is an ideal fitment for Honda Shadows, Yamaha Viragos, Kawasaki Vulcans, and even smaller Harley-Davidson Sportsters. Its design focuses on the essentials: providing a stable contact patch, clearing water effectively, and offering enough durability to make your dollar go further.

All-Weather Safety and Tread Design

The standout feature of the Shinko 712 is its staggered tread pattern. This design isn’t just for a classic look; the grooves are strategically placed to channel water away from the center of the tire, reducing the risk of hydroplaning during sudden summer downpours. The rubber compound is formulated to stay flexible across a wide range of temperatures, ensuring that you have “sticky” grip on cold morning commutes and predictable handling on hot afternoon rides. The 4-ply nylon carcass provides a “supple” feel, absorbing road vibrations and small potholes far better than the rigid casings found on some heavier touring tires.

Expert Technical Advice: The “Vintage” Sweet Spot

As specialists in older cruiser fitments, we highly recommend the 712 for riders restoring 1980s and 90s metric bikes. Pro Tip: These tires have a very “neutral” profile, meaning they don’t make the bike feel eager to “fall” into a turn, nor do they resist lean. This makes them perfect for newer riders or those who prefer a relaxed, predictable steering feel. Maintenance Note: Because the 712 uses a 4-ply nylon carcass, it is slightly more prone to flat-spotting if the bike sits for months at a time. If you are winterizing your bike, we recommend using a stand to keep the weight off the tires or increasing the pressure by 5 PSI during storage. For daily riding, stick to 32-34 PSI front / 36-38 PSI rear for the best wear-to-grip ratio.

Reliability That Doesn’t Break the Bank

The Shinko 712 has earned a reputation as the “workhorse” of the cruiser world. It may not have the 20,000-mile lifespan of a premium Michelin, but it offers a level of performance that far exceeds its cost. For riders who commute daily or those who enjoy weekend escapes, the 712 provides a smooth, quiet, and safe experience. It is a tire that proves you don’t have to spend a fortune to get a high-speed rated, name-brand product that you can trust on every turn.

Fitment Note: While the 712 is a tubeless (TL) tire, it is perfectly safe to use with the appropriate inner tube if your motorcycle is equipped with spoked wheels.

Shinko 712 Tires

The 712 was designed for mileage and performance without the high price tag.

Features:

• Staggered, positive-ration tread ensures these Shinko tires have excellent highway wet weather handling and adhesion
• H-rated motorcycle tires for speeds up to 130 mph
• Tubeless, 4-ply nylon carcass
• Lateral grooves increase inline stability

Shinko 230 Tour Master: The High-Speed Standard for Long-Distance Cruising

The Shinko 230 Tour Master was created to solve a specific problem: providing a high-performance touring tire that doesn’t break the bank. While many budget tires are only rated for lower speeds, the 230 Tour Master is V-rated (149 mph) in most sizes, making it one of the most stable and capable tires in its price class. Whether you are riding a vintage Goldwing, a classic Metric Cruiser, or a high-mileage V-Twin, this tire is engineered to handle the relentless heat and friction of long-distance highway travel.

Engineered for Stability Under Load

The core of the 230 Tour Master is its heavy-duty carcass. Touring motorcycles often carry significant weight between the bike, the rider, a passenger, and a week’s worth of luggage. Shinko utilized a reinforced aramid-belted structure in select sizes to ensure the tire maintains its profile under pressure. This prevents the “swimming” or unstable feeling that lighter tires experience when fully loaded. The arched tread design further enhances this stability by providing a consistent and large contact patch, which is essential for maintaining traction during high-speed lane changes and long, sweeping turns.

Expert Advice: The “Metric” Specialist

While we talk a lot about Harleys, the Shinko 230 is truly the “secret weapon” for Metric Cruiser riders (Honda Shadow, Kawasaki Vulcan, Yamaha V-Star). Pro Tip: If you are moving from a standard street tire to the 230 Tour Master, you will notice a significant improvement in how the bike handles “highway rain grooves.” The staggered tread pattern is specifically designed to ignore the tracking issues common on grooved concrete. Maintenance Note: Because this tire uses a slightly softer compound to achieve its V-rating grip, it is essential to maintain precise PSI. For heavy touring, we recommend 38 PSI front / 40-42 PSI rear. Running low pressure will cause this tire to cup faster than a harder premium tire.

Why It’s a Top-Tier Value Choice

The Shinko 230 Tour Master is for the rider who prioritizes safety and speed ratings over 20,000-mile longevity. It provides a level of “sticky” confidence in the corners that many harder touring tires lack. It is a smooth-rolling, quiet tire that allows you to cross state lines with total peace of mind. For riders who want a premium-feeling ride without the “premium” price tag, the 230 Tour Master is a proven performer that has earned its place on thousands of touring rigs across the country.

Fitment Note: Always verify your rim’s tube requirements. While the 230 is a tubeless (TL) tire, it can be used with a tube on spoked wheels.

Shinko SR 999 Long Haul: The High-Mileage Evolution for V-Twin Riders

The Shinko SR 999 Long Haul represents a major leap forward for Shinko’s cruiser lineup. For years, the Shinko 777 was the “go-to” tire for riders who wanted maximum grip at a budget-friendly price, but it often lacked the longevity required for cross-country touring. The SR 999 was developed at the specific request of riders who loved that Shinko feel but needed a tire that could survive an 8,000-mile road trip. With an all-new silica-rich rubber compound and a reinforced structure, the Long Haul is designed to stay on your Road Glide, Ultra Classic, or Heritage Softail for significantly more miles than its predecessors.

Engineered for the Heavyweight Class

Modern touring bikes are heavier and more powerful than ever, placing immense stress on the rear tire. The SR 999 addresses this with a reinforced carcass and Aramid belting. Aramid is the same high-strength material used in bulletproof vests and drive belts; in the SR 999, it prevents centrifugal growth at highway speeds, keeping the contact patch stable and consistent. This architecture allows the tire to carry the weight of a rider, passenger, and full luggage without the “squirmy” or unstable feel often associated with lighter-duty cruiser tires. Additionally, the tread depth has been elevated to provide more usable rubber before reaching the wear bars.

Expert Setup Insight: The 85% Rule

When comparing the Shinko SR 999 to premium competitors like the Michelin Commander III or Dunlop American Elite, there is a simple “value rule” we share with our customers. Pro Tip: Most long-term reviews show that the SR 999 provides approximately 85% of the mileage of those premium tires, but usually at 50% to 60% of the cost. This makes them the highest value-per-mile tire currently on the market. Maintenance Tip: To get the most life out of your SR 999s, run them slightly higher than factory pressures. For heavy baggers, we recommend 40-42 PSI rear and 38-40 PSI front. This prevents the tire from flexing too much, which is the leading cause of heat buildup and accelerated wear.

Confidence in the Corners and the Rain

While longevity is the headline, the “inspiring grip” mentioned by Shinko isn’t just marketing. The diagonal “claw-mark” tread pattern is highly effective at slicing through standing water. Riders who live in rainy climates—like the Gulf Coast or the Pacific Northwest—frequently report that the SR 999 feels more planted in “frog-choking” rain than tires costing twice as much. It provides a smooth, predictable ride that doesn’t follow rain grooves or highway seams, allowing you to relax and enjoy the journey.

Fitment Note: The SR 999 is available in both Blackwall and White Wall (in select sizes). Always check your bike’s load index requirements, especially if you regularly ride two-up with gear.

Features:

Shinko 777 White Wall: Modern Performance Meets Vintage Soul

The Shinko 777 White Wall is engineered for the rider who refuses to compromise on style or safety. While many vintage-look tires use older rubber compounds that can feel “greasy” on wet roads, the Shinko 777 utilizes a high-traction rubber formula designed specifically for the weight and torque of modern V-Twin cruisers. Whether you are building a custom “Vicla” style Softail or simply refreshing your Harley-Davidson Heritage Classic, these wide white walls provide a brilliant, clean aesthetic that instantly transforms the profile of your motorcycle.

Superior Traction and Engineering

At the core of the 777 is a carcass designed for stability. The tire features an Aramid belted construction (in select sizes), which allows the tire to maintain its shape even at highway speeds, reducing heat buildup and increasing the life of the tread. The tread pattern is specifically designed with deep functional grooves to evacuate water efficiently, providing a level of wet-weather confidence that far exceeds most budget-friendly tires. This makes the Shinko 777 a “performance” choice for riders who actually ride their custom bikes, rather than just showing them.

Pro-Tip: Maintaining That Brilliant White

As V-Twin experts, we know that the biggest challenge with white walls is keeping them bright. Installation Note: Shinko tires often ship with a blue protective coating on the white wall to prevent scuffing and oils from leaching during transport. This is easily removed with warm water and a mild dish soap. Maintenance Tip: Avoid using petroleum-based tire shines or harsh degreasers, as these can cause the white rubber to turn yellow over time. We recommend using a dedicated white wall cleaner and a soft-bristled brush once a week to prevent brake dust from embedding into the porous white rubber.

Why Choose the Shinko 777?

The Shinko 777 has become a “cult classic” in the Harley community because it solves the two biggest complaints riders have: price and grip. While it may not reach the 15,000-mile lifespan of a premium touring tire, its “sticky” nature provides a level of cornering confidence that many harder tires lack. It is a predictable, smooth-handling tire that allows you to scrape floorboards with total peace of mind, all while looking like a show-winner.

Note: If you are riding a heavy touring bike like a Road Glide or Ultra, always ensure you select the “Refined/Heavy Duty” (HD) version of the Shinko 777 to ensure the load rating meets your bike’s requirements.

Shinko SR 999 Long Haul: The New Standard for High-Mileage V-Twin Touring

For the long-distance rider, a tire is more than just rubber—it is a promise of reliability over thousands of miles. The Shinko SR 999 Long Haul was developed to answer the biggest complaint in the cruiser market: tires that wear out too fast. By utilizing a “functionalized” polymer compound, Shinko has created a tire that rivals the longevity of premium touring brands while maintaining the legendary “sticky” grip that the SR series is known for. This is the go-to tire for Harley-Davidson Touring, Road King, and Ultra Classic owners who demand a tire that can handle a cross-country trek without squaring off in the center.

Heavy Duty Engineering for the Modern Bagger

Modern Baggers are heavier and more powerful than ever, especially with the Milwaukee-Eight 114 and 117ci engines. The SR 999 features a reinforced Heavy Duty (HD) carcass with additional plies to manage the extreme stress of two-up riding and fully loaded luggage. This stiffer construction prevents “sidewall squirm” in high-speed sweepers, providing a planted and predictable feel even when your bike is at its maximum Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR). The tread profile is designed to provide a consistent contact patch at all lean angles, ensuring that your transition from vertical to cornering is seamless and stable.

Expert Installation & Long-Haul Maintenance (E-E-A-T)

When prepping a bike for a 3,000-mile tour, tire setup is the most ignored safety check. Pro Tip: The Shinko SR 999 is a high-volume tire. When mounting, we recommend using a high-quality tire lubricant to ensure the bead seats perfectly around the entire rim. A “half-seated” bead is a common cause of low-speed handlebar wobble on heavy touring bikes. The Nitrogen Advantage: If you are looking to maximize the 999’s lifespan, consider Nitrogen inflation to maintain more consistent pressures during the heat cycles of long-distance riding. Heat is the enemy of tread life; keeping your SR 999s at the recommended cold PSI (usually 38-40 front / 40-42 rear for heavy Baggers) will prevent the cupping that prematurely ends the life of many touring tires.

Why the SR 999 is the Smarter Investment

The Shinko SR 999 Long Haul represents a shift in value. You no longer have to pay “boutique” prices to get a tire that lasts an entire riding season. It offers the cruise-control stability that highway riders crave, with a tread siping pattern that inspires confidence when you inevitably hit a summer thunderstorm in the mountains. For riders who find themselves replacing tires every few months, the 999 is the performance-mileage hybrid that actually delivers on its name.

Always check your valve stems when replacing tires on older Touring models. We recommend high-pressure metal stems for any bike equipped with the SR 999 to ensure zero pressure loss during extended high-speed travel.

Shinko 777 Wide White Wall Tires: The Perfect Blend of Classic Style and Modern Grip

For many Harley-Davidson riders, the aesthetic of the motorcycle is just as important as its performance. The Shinko 777 Wide White Wall (WWW) Cruiser Tire allows you to achieve that legendary “vintage” look while benefiting from 2026 tire technology. Unlike the stiff, hard-rubber whitewalls of the past, the Shinko 777 series is built with a high-traction compound that prioritizes rider safety and cornering confidence, making it a favorite for Softail Deluxe, Heritage Classic, and Road King owners.

Performance Engineering Beneath the Classic Look

Don’t let the “old school” sidewall fool you; the 777 is a performance-first tire. The carcass is constructed with reinforced aramid belts (in specific sizes) to provide the structural integrity required for heavy V-Twin motorcycles. Whether you are navigating a 900lb Touring model or a nimble Sportster, the 777 maintains its profile under heavy load, preventing the “flat-spotting” and wallowing often associated with inferior cruiser tires. The “sticky” rubber compound heats up quickly, ensuring that even on cooler mornings, your Milwaukee-Eight or Twin Cam has maximum power delivery to the pavement.

Expert Maintenance Tip: Keeping Your Whitewalls Bright

As experts in the V-Twin industry, we know that the biggest challenge with whitewalls is maintenance. Pro Tip: New Shinko Whitewalls are shipped with a blue protective coating to prevent staining during transit. This can be easily removed with warm water and a mild soap. To keep them bright, avoid using petroleum-based cleaners, which can turn the rubber yellow over time. We recommend a dedicated whitewall cleaner or a simple “Magic Eraser” for those stubborn road-grime spots. Additionally, always maintain proper PSI; under-inflation causes excessive heat, which can lead to premature browning of the white sidewall area.

Why This is the Top Choice for Custom Builders

The Shinko 777 WWW has become the go-to tire for “Vicla” and “Chicano Style” builds where a massive 21-inch front whitewall is a requirement. It offers the best balance of price and performance, allowing builders to achieve a premium look without the “boutique” price tag of other brands. Because the rubber is softer than OEM tires, it absorbs road imperfections—like expansion joints and potholes—much better than harder touring tires, resulting in a smoother, more comfortable ride through the handlebars and seat.

Always verify your fender clearance, especially on lowered bikes. Because the 777 has a slightly more “rounded” profile than some stock tires, checking the gap at full fork compression is a vital safety step for any custom installation.

Shinko 777 White Wall Cruiser Tires

Specifically designed for cruiser motorcycles and is available in a multitude of sizes to fit many V-Twin and metric cruiser models.

Features:

• Rubber compound provides more mileage with great wet and dry grip
• Tread pattern disperses water without tracking in rain grooves
• Aramid belted provides ample load capacity while also giving more stability
• Unleash the handling potential of you cruiser motorcycle
• Available in “Reinforced” for heavyweight touring bikes, two-up riding, or when required by OEM specifications

Shinko 777 Cruiser Tires: Performance Traction for the Modern V-Twin

In the world of heavy cruisers, the connection between your machine and the asphalt is often the difference between a controlled lean and a sketchy slide. The Shinko 777 Cruiser Tire was engineered specifically to solve the “wooden” feel of traditional high-mileage touring tires. By utilizing a softer, high-traction rubber compound, Shinko has created a tire that heats up rapidly, providing immediate grip for the high-torque demands of Milwaukee-Eight, Twin Cam, and Evolution engines.

Technical Construction & Road Stability

The architecture of the Shinko 777 features a reinforced carcass designed to combat the lateral flex commonly felt on heavy bikes like the Harley Road Glide or Heritage Softail. Many riders experience “hunting” or “wandering” when crossing metal bridge grates or rain-slicked highway grooves; the 777’s tread pattern is siped specifically to evacuate water while maintaining a large contact patch. For performance-minded riders, the aramid-belted versions (select sizes) offer a stiffer sidewall that keeps the bike planted during aggressive canyon carving or high-speed freeway merges.

Expert Installation & Maintenance Tips (E-E-A-T)

From a technical standpoint, the Shinko 777 requires a specific approach to maximize its lifespan. Pro Tip: Because this is a softer compound tire, maintaining precise cold tire pressure (PSI) is critical. Running these tires even 5 PSI too low can lead to premature “cupping” or “scalloping” on the front tread. We recommend checking your pressure before every long ride. Note on Scuff-In: Like all high-performance tires, the 777 comes with a thin layer of mold release from the factory. We suggest a moderate 100-mile break-in period—avoiding maximum lean angles—to allow the rubber to properly scuff and reach peak traction levels.

Why Choose Shinko 777 for Your Harley?

While many “big name” brands focus on lasting 15,000 miles, they often sacrifice the “feel” of the road. The Shinko 777 is for the rider who values the **quality of the ride** over the quantity of the miles. It transforms the handling characteristic of a Sportster or Dyna, making the front end feel lighter and more responsive. Whether you are building a “Club Style” Dyna with tall risers or a classic Softail Deluxe needing that perfect Wide Whitewall look, the 777 provides the best performance-to-dollar ratio in the V-Twin industry today.

Check your rear belt or chain clearance if you are upsizing from factory widths. Verified fitment is key to ensuring your fender and belt guard remain clear under full suspension compression.
